The process
Wychavon District Council invited WeTheSeeds (Public Arts Placemaking UK) to deliver a keynote speech and workshops showcasing our 360-degree approach to community engagement. Our ethos is that design starts and ends with local community insight, input, and purpose, ensuring every project is shaped by the residents it serves.
The keynote speech reached a diverse audience of council members and local organisations, demonstrating how public art and placemaking foster meaningful community connections. Complementing this, we ran two one-hour workshops using a hands-on, creative approach. Participants explored their role and identity within place through a cut-and-stick-and-clay creative exercise followed by discussion. This method enabled participants to share ideas and insights rarely captured in traditional consultations, providing councils with rich, nuanced data that reflects personal connections and local priorities.

Growing the seeds
The sessions strengthened community ownership of projects and transformed public spaces into culturally resonant, interactive environments. Councils gained practical insight into engaging residents meaningfully, with outcomes that can inform planning, policy, and future projects.
By centering engagement on community insight and creative expression, WeTheSeeds (Public Arts Placemaking UK) uncovers perspectives that conventional town planning methods cannot capture. This approach enriches both the places we create and the people who inhabit them, fostering stronger connections, civic pride, local identity and community engagement.
