Black Lives Matter UK - Virtual Art Gallery

WeTheSeeds were asked to manage the curation process behind the Black Lives Matter UK virtual art gallery in collaboration with TD360 virtual tours.

Black Lives Matter UK - Virtual Art Gallery

The process

The gallery was a celebration of the black british art movement, so it was important to create an experience that was both educational and inspirational, yet allowing guests to have a personal connection with each artist.

TD360 chose to embed selfie style videos into the gallery, so that when users hover over a piece, a selfie of the artist would play to describe the works first hand.

The launch of the gallery was in line with Black History Month (October 2021) with Black Lives Matter UK promoting it on various traditional media channels.

Growing the seeds

It was our job to get in contact with 20 black british artists, source and screen their works to invite them to be part of the gallery experience. Each artist was very different from one another, with different needs and expectations.

WeTheSeeds created a booking process to which artists used to onboard onto the project. This was from initial contact to setting up calls to collecting artwork in suitable formats.

The team were on hand to answer any questions artists raised via email, and even created a helpful landing page for FAQ’s.

The agency managed to obtain a foreword from Eddie Chambers a prolific figure in the black british art movement in the UK.

Lastly we posted both pre and post launch content over on our social media channels.

The virtual gallery is open at all times. You can visit it by clicking the link here .

“WeTheSeeds were valuable in helping find and choose the 20 artists involved in the project along with helping to communicate with the artists during the project.”
