Penguin Books - Terry Pratchett Window Art Advertising Campaign UK

WeTheSeeds were asked by Penguin Random House UK (Transworld) to design and install 6 pieces of Window Art Advertising up and down the United Kingdom for Terry Pratchett’s latest book “A Stroke of the Pen”.

Penguin books x Terry Pratchett

The process

Pre-launch, our expert window design team worked with the book’s illustrations to reformat each of them to fit each of the 6 booksellers’ windows panels. We treated each of the sleeve illustrations in a way in which deconstructed them to work with the shape and size of each of the unique window panels. Along with the name of the book and author, we presented the final 6 digital window design drafts back to the client.

Here are some examples below:

Growing the seeds

After the digital window designs had been approved, our qualified window artists travelled across the UK visiting each site to hand-paint each design onto the window itself. Following an 8-hour layering process per site, working alongside each bookseller, and making sure the final hand-painted window art reflected the digital expectation to a high standard, we completed each of the 6 campaign windows in time for the book’s launch. The sites include: Edinburgh, Bath, Oxford, London, Keighley and Norwich.

Images of the final windows can be found below:

Lastly, we produced social media content alongside the booksellers to further promote the books’ launch!

The window art is AMAZING! I also had emails from the booksellers to say how much they love the windows and how many lovely comments they’re getting on them as well. Great positive engagement and response from the community!
